Message Dated September 17, 2011
Dear GAPI member,I am very humbled and honored to be the president of GAPI for the year 2011-2012. I will continue to lead GAPI towards its ongoing activities and promote scientific, educational and professional cause for which GAPI was formed.
Over the years GAPI has grown to become organization that supports many different activities in Indo-American community. Opening of GAPI volunteer clinic supported by GAPI Physicians in Global Mall in this March to provide free care to the one who cannot afford due to financial hardship is another attempt to bridge the gap in health care needs for needy population and there capacity to afford it financially. GAPI has grown to become more than just social networking organization.
As a president I will continue to support all activities of humane nature that are essential to help needy people here in Georgia, USA and in India.
Past presidents and Founders of association have laid solid roots to activities of GAPI. As incorporated in our by-laws in our Goals and Objectives, I am sure with support from you all we will continue to march towards ongoing growth of GAPI in many new areas and will master the tasks that we continue to do every year.
I appeal to you all to make our association strong with solidarity and vibrant with active participation in all regional meetings and annual meeting and be generous in your spirits and help all philanthropic activities that you can with your time , expertise and monetarily. I will also encourage you all to become member of the main stream medical organizations like MAG. As solidarity and numbers represents strength, I would like you all to join AAPI (if you are not member) and take advantage of AAPI’s current reduced rate of membership fee for lifetime membership.
As I had indicated at April Annual meeting GAPI leadership should work with Georgia Medical Board to help Board and GAPI individual member on issues of concerns to resolve the issues in mutually agreeable terms and GAPI can play a mediator’s role and educational role on cultural issues, so individual practice differences are not perceived as lacking in standard of practice by Board reviewer and by the same token individual practitioner who needs some more coaching on acculturation issues is identified and helped without penalty.
Once again I thank you all for your trust in me to lead GAPI as a President and also like to thank all past presidents, Board of Governors, and Board of Trustees for your support and training that you have given to me.
Dilipkumar Patel, MD
President, GAPI
