GAPI Gainesville Regional Meeting by The Lake
By the beautiful shores of Lake Lanier nestled in the north Georgia mountains, Georgia Association of Physicians (GAPI) Regional meeting was held at the Chattahoochee Country Club, Gainesville on September 10, 2011. This was the first ever GAPI meeting in Gainesville and was attended by over 50 physicians from the area and from all over the state. The meeting was organized Dr Abhishek Gaur, President-elect GAPI and prominent practicing cardiologist from Northeast Georgia Heart Center. Sandra Reed, practicing OB-Gyn physician, President-elect of Medical Association of Georgia graced the occasion by being the Chief Guest for the meeting.
After the social hour held outdoors by the lake, the formal meeting was started with an introduction by Dr Gaur about GAPI organization and distinguished attendees including current Executive members and past-Presidents.. Next, Dr Dilip Patel, President of GAPI outlined the activities of GAPI including the charitable section that sponsors scholarships and has most recently started a charitable clinic in Global mall, Norcross, GA. Dr Sandra Reed addressed the audience with an informative talk about the recent legislative activities and MAG’s role in the changing health care climate. Dr Swati Gaur, Geriatrician presented a copy of India unveiled Dax Cooke, financial planner gave a lecture on opportunities for investments and tax saving in current stormy financial times. Finally, Dr Lalitha Medepalli talked about Prevention of Heart disease in women.
Food was delicious and the location was beautiful. Meeting was very informative and enjoyable and concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Gaur and short session of music and dance. This meeting set the pace for a productive year ahead for GAPI.
