GAPI REGIONAL MEETING, COLUMBUS
NOVEMBER 14, 2009

The November 14th GAPI regional meeting in Columbus was held at the Howard Johnson Hotel. It was very well attended by the local physicians. The events started with a brief meeting of the GAPI executive and board. This was followed by the educational session. Dr Pravin Patel welcomed the members and introduced the speakers. Dr Anup Sabharwal, Assistant Professor from the Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami, spoke about diabetes management. Next, Dr Vishwanath, from Florida, Internist spoke about blood pressure management and the role of Bystolic. This was followed by a lively presentation by Dr Setu Mazumdar about 'evidence based investment'. Dr Rajinder Chhokar, newly elected Chief of Staff of the St Francis Hospital, introduced the CEO, Mr Grainger and Dr. Simmons, who then spoke about the Hospital's expansion plans for the future. The last speaker was Mr Dax Cooke of LPL Financial who gave valuable insight on personal asset protection. Dr Santanu Das and Mr Ankur Patel presented their ideas on adding a GAPI member search option on the GAPI web site and also presented a new GAPI online forum available on the web site. Dr Piyush B. Patel concluded by thanking the sponsors and pledged to use any remaining money for a health fair in Columbus early next year.

After the conclusion of the educational session, the members moved to the Brook Stone school. This part of the meeting was open to non members also. After a sumptuous Indian dinner, the gathering was treated to an excellent cultural program performed by Naresh Rajput and his group who came from India.

The entire program for the evening was organized by Dr.Piyush B. Patel whose hard work and organizing capability was appreciated by everyone.
