GAPI Atlanta Meeting – December 12, 2009

GAPI executive and board members from the Atlanta area arranged a luncheon meeting at the Ashiana Restaurant on December 12th, 2009.  This objective of the meeting was to inform non-member physicians of Indian heritage about the activities of GAPI and encourage them to join the organization. For this event, a special STIMULUS break of $100.00 for the life membership fee was approved by GAPI president with consensus from executive committee and board.  

The meeting was attended by more than 60 physicians from metro Atlanta area including non-member and member physicians, past presidents and board members.  Dr. Santanu Das, president of GAPI, spoke about the organization and its objectives and achievements. He spoke about the years activities which included the CME events and health fair. He also outlined the charitable activities of GAPI Foundation. Dr. Das also spoke about GAPI members who have been nominated to leadership positions in other organizations.

 The featured speaker was Dr. Setu Mazumdar, who has recently launched his own company, Lotus Wealth Solutions. He gave a very interesting and informative talk on “evidence based investment” and  followed this with another brief presentation on estate planning.

The meeting ended with a tour of Sonal Imports showroom display of exclusive Italian furniture at the invitation of Mr. Shyam Garg.  All attendees were given a gift and treated to wonderful dessert by Mr. Garg.
